Crafting Sandwich Wonders at LUNCHTIME

Lunchtime beckoned, and our cravings led us to @hectors_deli. As we walked in, the rustic charm of the place immediately caught our attention. Nestled in the heart of South Melbourne, this delightful deli emanates an inviting aura that sets the tone for a memorable dining experience.
One pleasant surprise was the absence of the usually snaking queues that can deter us from indulging in our cravings on weekends. It was a weekday escape, and we found ourselves blessed with swift service and a serene ambiance.

Sandos or Toasties?

As we settled into our seats, we were presented with a tantalizing conundrum – what exactly is the distinction between ‘sandos’ and ‘toasties’? The friendly staff at Hectors Deli were more than happy to clarify. While both terms might be used interchangeably, the ‘sando’ or ‘sandwich’ often reflects a more artisanal, layered creation, while ‘toasties’ lean towards pressed and toasted options.
Now, onto the stars of the show – the sandwiches themselves. We were spoiled for choice with options like Beef & Pickle, Tuna Melt, Chicken Salad, and Roast Eggplant. The real challenge was narrowing down our choices! Each sando boasted a unique blend of ingredients that promised a symphony of flavors.

Sandos with a Twist

Our selections finally arrived, and we were in awe of the craftsmanship that went into each creation. The Beef & Pickle, a true carnivore’s dream, was a mouthwatering symphony of succulent beef complemented by the tangy crunch of pickles. The Tuna Melt was a melange of gooey cheese and savory tuna that danced on our palates.
The Chicken Salad, a refreshing choice, offered a medley of tender chicken and crisp veggies, delivering a delightful crunch with every bite. And then, the Roast Eggplant stole the spotlight with its medley of earthy flavors that harmonized perfectly.

Buttering – The Culinary Sine Qua Non

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room – the OTT buttering that’s become synonymous with Hectors Deli. It’s practically criminal not to lavish their creations with generous layers of butter. And frankly, it’s a crime we’re more than willing to commit! The velvety, indulgent layer of butter melds seamlessly with the fillings, elevating each sando to a level of gourmet decadence that’s hard to put into words.

Artisanal Sandwiches Galore: Hectors Deli’s South Melbourne Charm

As we savored the last morsels of our sandos, one thing was abundantly clear – Hectors Deli isn’t just a deli; it’s an experience. The thoughtfully crafted sandwiches, the charming ambiance, and the passion infused into every creation make it a must-visit destination for any true food aficionado.

So, the next time you find yourself in South Melbourne, Richmond or Fitzroy, make it a point to stop by @hectors_deli. Whether you call them sandos or toasties, one thing’s for certain – they’ll redefine your understanding of a perfect sandwich. Your taste buds will thank you, and you’ll find yourself coming back for more of that culinary magic that only Hectors Deli can conjure.
