Pop Your Cork at the Dazzling Blanc de Blanc Encore at Spiegel Haus Melbourne
The Blanc de Blanc Encore by Strut & Fret premieres in Melbourne with a champagne-soaked cabaret-circus that promises sass, spectacle, and more than a few surprises, guaranteeing a dazzling night out. Walking into Spiegel Haus felt like stepping through a jazzed-up world where everyone is shimmering in whites and sparkles, clicking champagne glasses in a low, intimate lighting that wraps around you like a secret whispered in the dark.
A Night Dripping with Champagne and Secrets
The show kicks off with a surge of energy, with upbeat rock and jazz rhythms setting the groove for the night. Two charismatic hosts, Emile Mathieu & Felix Pouliot, make sure you are left laughing till your last breath, one with a French flair and the other with cheeky comic timing. Their banter is sharp, satirical, and unapologetically raunchy. The humour is in-your-face, bold, talking about champagne, life, love, French accents delivered with such charm that you are set for a mad journey of glitz and glamour.
Amid this lively chaos, a champagne-themed song swells with incredible vocals, wrapping the audience in an intoxicating embrace of vintage jazz and contemporary zest. The interplay of comedy, music, and cabaret-burlesque introduces a unique world of Blanc de Blanc Encore—one where elegance meets mischievous spectacle.
Aerial Acts: Too High, Too Hot, Too Hard to Look Away
The next act opens with the soft moonlight spotlighting Danielle Summers as she gracefully spins and twists on her hoop. Watching her fluid, precise movements was like witnessing poetry in motion, each twist weaving a story of strength and delicate beauty that held my breath captive. The room felt hushed, enchanted by the elegance unfolding above us.
Following her, the renowned contortionist Mykhailo Makarovoak, twisting into impossible shapes and bending mind-boggling angles, left every jaw dropped in admiration. The performance, unnerving yet beautiful, encapsulated seduction, daring boldness, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.
A Chaotic Carnival of Pillow Fights and Confetti
A cabaret night is incomplete without playful chaos!
A whirlwind of pillow fights with feathers floating like snowflakes, laughter bubbling up in contagious waves, and a giant parachute swirled overhead, cocooning the crowd in a moment of collective wonder and joyous spirits. Sprays of mist teased our skin; confetti rained softly, breaking the barrier between performers and audience, and I found myself caught up in a shared joy that felt deeply human and thrillingly wild.
Each interaction invited me in, wrapping me up in the sparkling tapestry of the evening. Little moments of winks, touches, and shared smiles made the performance feel alive and utterly captivating.
A Grand Finale of Struts and Charms That Pull You Closer
As we neared the end of the show, the soft cabaret gave way to fierce, powerful struts. Clara Fable and Melanie Hawkins’s moves electrified the space, radiating undeniable charisma. The room held its breath when Felix Pouliot surprised everyone with the pole routine. Suspended in precarious balance, the dancer commanded with breathtaking feats and heart-stopping near-misses that made sure shocking expressions and heavy gasps.
Concluding the event on a high note, what can be a better way than Danielle Summers, champagne cascading like liquid gold, bubbles sparkling and floating in the air, filled with laughter. Joined by the full cast, the stage erupted into a dazzling, joyous celebration of party, jazz, and uninhibited fun. It was the perfect crescendo to a night that shimmered with life and magic.
Stars Who Make the Night Unforgettable
The charm of Blanc de Blanc Encore stays alive with an international ensemble cast that balances razor-sharp technique with playful, seductive energy.
Felix Pouliot, a Canadian circus artist, brings a wild, unpredictable edge to the night. Seasoned with Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize, Felix threads Chinese pole, quick-fire humour and fearless moments that hit with both shock and delight.
Melanie Hawkins, an Australian dancer, carries the show’s clean, theatrical shine. With credits in Jesus Christ Superstar, The Rocky Horror Show, Rock of Ages, Hugh Jackman’s Broadway to Oz tour and Singin’ in the Rain, she moves through each number with big-stage confidence, sharpening every cabaret step and kick.
Mykhailo Makarovoak, a Ukrainian Got Talent finalist performer and choreographer, twists the rhythm into something stranger and sharper. He blends hip-hop, popping, and bone-breaking into shapes that feel impossible yet strangely hypnotic.
Danielle Summers, a UK aerialist, brings the slow-burn glamour overhead. She rises into the Spiegel Haus rigging with a calm mix of strength, elegance and quiet danger that lingers long after she descends.
When I think, it is hard to pin down one favourite moment! The magic is in the way Blanc de Blanc Encore sweeps you up and makes you part of its glittering world. It is not just a show you watch; it is one you live, breathe, and laugh along with. The crowd is the pulse—participating, responding, becoming entwined with each act. From cheeky crowdwork to dancing under the parachute, there is a sense that everyone is a vital thread in the show’s script.
