Melbourne’s French Flair: High Tea by Chef Pierrick Boyer

Melbourne’s international café culture is renowned for its vibrant energy, innovative flavours, and passionate embrace of global culinary traditions. At the heart of this thriving scene lies a love for authentic experiences. High tea at Reverie Cafe embodies the spirit, offering a journey into the world of French patisserie right in the lively suburb of Prahran.

Reverie Cafe captures the quintessential charm of classic French baking, serving an extraordinary array of delicate pastries, intricate cakes, and savoury delights crafted with real French techniques. Each visit to Reverie is a celebration of flavour, artistry, and warm hospitality, transforming everyday moments into memorable indulgences that define Melbourne’s rich café landscape.

Where French Technique Meets Melbourne Culture

Since opening in 2018 at 31 Izett Street, Prahran, Reverie Cafe has captured the essence of a Parisian patisserie. Located near the Prahran Market, the interior combines soft pink tiles, brass details, and natural greenery to create a calming yet sophisticated atmosphere. Despite initial challenges, including a temporary closure due to Prahran Square construction, the cafe successfully reopened and has grown to include a second location at Westfield Doncaster.

An Array of French Pastries

A wide range of cakes and pastries awaits at Reverie Cafe, each crafted with passion and precision. From the beloved OG Passion Brownie to the elegant Charlotte Fraise cake, every bite is a celebration of flavour and artistry. The menu extends beyond sweets to a selection of hearty savoury brunch options, perfectly complemented by Melbourne’s renowned specialty coffee.

Reverie also offers engaging masterclasses, where baking enthusiasts can learn authentic French pastry techniques firsthand. This combination of exceptional food, expertly brewed coffee, and hands-on learning creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that keeps patrons returning time and again.

The Maestro Behind the Decadent Pastries

With over thirty years of experience in the art of French pastry, Chef Pierrick Boyer has devoted his career to mastering traditional techniques and exceptional craftsmanship. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for unwavering quality and dedication to authenticity, shaping the distinctive offerings of Reverie Cafe.

His work of art is about more than cooking; it is about preserving tradition while inspiring new talent.

One such talent is Paula Nikita, an exciting pastry chef from Indonesia training under Pierrick’s guidance. She is preparing to represent Australia at the 1st Viennoiserie World Cup in France. Their partnership embodies a beautiful fusion of tradition and modern innovation, a story filled with promise to bring the World Cup to Melbourne!
